BOOK LOVERS DAY

As a child I could completely lose myself in books. I often went to the library to read the same books that had that effect on me again and again.

Next to novels, later I also read a lot about travel, business books and personal development. Eventually I became a writer myself and can never look at books the same way.

I use a Kindle now, but the smell of a paper book and the weight of in in my hands can still bring me ecstasy.

How about you? What role do books play in your life?

Creativity experts advise to 'read weirdly and wildly’; so today pick up a random book and let yourself be surprised and inspired.

Reading also helps you to become a better writer, by the way…

𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣!

As a digital nomad, I collect experiences instead of possessions. Connections with people, all over the world, are what make my life so special.

Today on International Friendship day, I would like to highlight some special friendships. There are too many remarkable people to mention, but here are a few:

Swedish Kicka Witte and I met 15 years ago, waiting for a bus in Hawaii. We both did not want to socialize with the party people around us and that brought us together. We made an incredible trip on the islands and have stayed in touch ever since. Kicka even moved to Hawaii and still lives there. She is a gifted photographer and a beautiful, wise human being.

@mariannenotschaele in NL and @manuela.intuitive.medium in Aruba have been my ‘witches friends’ for 20 years. We talk about energy, spirits, past lives and each have a sixth sense to ‘hear’, ’see’ and ‘know’, which bring different perspectives to every situation. We used to celebrate ’Sinterklaas’ together, giving each other unfiltered spiritual advice, disguised in the best poems… 🙂

@drakos.christos is from Cyprus. We became room mates in Gainesville, Florida without even speaking to each other. The result is an international friendship of over 25 years, meeting in Florida, Curaçao, Amsterdam, Cyprus and cyberspace...

@astridpatz is my oldest Dutch best friend, we met in 1977 when we became neighbors and our lives and families have intertwined. Her family is my family and vice versa.

@willolovesyou , originally from the USA, is a fellow location independent entrepreneur. We first met in Bangkok and now meet all over the world. Recently she visited me in Amsterdam and we tested our friendship my sharing the tiniest room at a conference in London. Test passed! 🙂 Where is our next adventure?

Kristel van Reenen and I studied together at Nyenrode university, but hardly ever interacted. Until we met again in Curaçao, where we instantly connected. Our brains work the same (weird) way. Kristel knows me better than I know myself and I can always turn to her for advice.
