Abundance
Inspiration shot January 2025
The new year and the solstice mark a time of transition. During a shamanic tantra retreat and local ceremonies in Peru, I learned to let go of what no longer serves me and create space for a truly authentic new beginning. This transition into 2025 feels like an opportunity to go deeper, beyond superficial resolutions.
For me, 2024 was a year of abundance. Professionally, it was an exceptional year: fully booked writing weeks, coaching sessions more popular than ever, and more free time thanks to streamlining my business. This created room for personal growth, including four tantra retreats, an MDMA journey, and a San Pedro ceremony 🌵. I also treated myself to more luxury, such as flying business class.
Now, my focus shifts to 2025. How can you share abundance with others? And what pain are you willing to endure to realize your dreams? I’m excited to share my insights and inspiration with you. Enjoy the read!
Abundance vs. scarcity
An abundance mindset focuses on possibilities, trust, and growth. You see opportunities, invest, and share what you have. You believe there is always enough—whether it’s time, money, or love. A scarcity mindset, on the other hand, fixates on what’s lacking, encourages saving out of fear, and operates from a fear of loss. The difference? An abundance mindset opens doors and energizes you, while scarcity shrinks your world. By consciously choosing abundance, you create more space for happiness, connection, and success. What will you choose?
Year review
There are many ways to reflect on the past year; you can make it as detailed as you like. The simplest version is to write down your wins from the past year, what didn’t go as well, and where you want to focus in the year ahead.
For me, 2024 was a year of abundance. While I’ve been scaling down my business, I achieved my best year ever, with more income AND more free time. This brought not only financial abundance but also space for personal growth and connections with like-minded people. Read my year – review here.
Which pain will you choose?
Everyone wants a great job and lots of money. But are you willing to work 60 hours a week, face endless traffic jams, and deal with piles of paperwork? A happy relationship sounds wonderful, but it requires tough conversations, vulnerability, and sometimes painful compromises.
The lesson: deciding what you want is easy, but choosing what you’re willing to fight for – that’s the real challenge! Don’t ask yourself, “What do I want?” Instead, ask, “Which pain am I willing to choose?” Read more in Mark Manson’s article: The Most Important Question of Your Life.
Sharing abundance
In the village near my trullo in Italy, two amazing women dedicate themselves to rescuing stray dogs. They work six days a week in a café and spend all their free time, energy, AND money caring for dogs that no one else wants.
Many of us would love to do something meaningful but simply don’t have the time. What we CAN do is contribute financially. It’s unfair that they have to cover all the costs from their modest salaries, isn’t it?
Let’s help by donating for medicine, sterilizations, and food. I promise every euro will go directly to the dogs 🐾

DOCUMENTARY
Ancient Apocalypse
This Netflix series about ancient civilizations showcases several locations in Peru that I recently visited. It connects their exceptional construction techniques to other sacred sites around the world. Fascinating! (It’s episode 3 of season 2 on Netflix.)
TRUE STORY
Sound of hope
Sound of hope: The story of Possum Trot is a powerful, true story.
In a tiny, impoverished Black church community, 22 families adopt 77 hard-to-place foster children.
FEEL GOOD VIDEO
Plumes
This man sings and creates music for animals, and their reactions are so beautifully touching.
This is one of my favorite videos, but you can find many more on his Instagram account.
TRAVEL APP
Time Shifter
The Time Shifter app helps you prevent jet lag with a tailored sleep and light schedule. For my flight from Bangkok, the app suggested two short nights with a few hours awake in between. It seemed counterintuitive but worked perfectly to adjust to Dutch time.
Your first schedule is free!
Did you know...?
…that I stared death in the face twice here in Peru? Symbolically, that is.
The first time was during a Shamanic Tantra Retreat, and the second during a Wachuma – San Pedro ceremony with local shamans. Both experiences were intense and transformative, as you can read in the blogs.
Where is Esther?
I spent the entire month of December in Peru, starting with the shamanic tantra retreat, after which I moved to Pisac, a small village near Cusco. There, I enjoyed the mountains, local life, and stunning ruins like Intihuatana. Back in the 1990s, I traveled extensively through Peru and other Andean countries, and I was surprised by how much at home I felt here again. The people, the simplicity of life, the spirituality, and the connection to nature gave me a profound sense of peace.
The energy of the mountains had a powerful effect on me: I slept fantastically and gained new insights every time I visited the ruins. I increasingly felt like a priestess, finally daring to embrace and use my feminine energetic power. It was magical, yet grounding, with both feet firmly on the earth. (I wrote a Facebook post about how I apply this in my daily life: the magic of writing coaching.)
Many people ask if I went to Machu Picchu. I already did in 1997 as a backpacker. Back then, you could hike up without a ticket or guide and almost have Machu Picchu to yourself. This time, I decided not to go, thinking the crowds might be disappointing. Instead, I visited less-known places like the Temple of the Moon and my favorite: Intihuatana. These sites might be even more impressive: peaceful, energizing, and perfect for capturing stories and insights.
For the coming weeks, I’ll be in Buenos Aires to dance tango and reconnect with friends. After the somewhat rustic experience in Peru, I’m looking forward to a bit more luxury (I’ve rented a gorgeous apartment in a historic building). My very last live online workshop on January 15th will be broadcast from Buenos Aires. We’re going to make it a celebration – will you join?
