Find and retain talented people in your organization by offering freedom

Freedom is the new status symbol. There is a growing group of ‘location independent entrepreneurs’ who work where and when they want and create their dream life by using new technology and possibilities.

Is this a trend or a revolution? More and more companies believe it is a revolution and are adopting a flexible or even ‘remote only’ policy. No more permanent employees, no social security contributions, no office… Some are extra successful because of this. But beware: being a pioneer is not always easy.

As a speaker on digital transformation, I know the mindset of location-independent entrepreneurs and ‘digital nomads’. I give plenty of examples of how this new generation of entrepreneurs lives, thinks, sees opportunities, and decides. Some insights will be a shock, others may be a revelation. How can you attract/stimulate/retain those entrepreneurial spirits important to your organization?

“During the interactive networking workshop, Esther showed and experienced how to use
the possibilities around you in a simple way. It shows once again that the possibilities are endless!”

and find creative solutions to the problems in their organizations and those of their clients.”

My 13 most memorable speaking gigs

I have been a motivational speaker for more than 25 years. Each of the 1000 keynotes and 2 TEDx speeches was special. Either because of the location (Qatar, South Africa, Lithuania, New York, in a zoo, in the money museum during my collection of €16 of foreign coins for charity) or because of the special connection I had with the audience (entrepreneurs, travellers, professional women, veiled or not). I treasure the messages people sent me afterwards; how my story changed their lives and motivated them to quit their jobs, become entrepreneurs or make another important life decision after hearing my talk. Some events stood out. In this blog, I share some of my most memorable events, bloopers, and some tips for speakers at the end.

Are you using your ‘shop window’ the right way?

Baby Bathwater unconference

“Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater…” Sure, it’s expensive, but it’s also the most exclusive ‘unconference’ I have ever heard of. $10,000 gets you 4 days on a private island in Croatia, with 200 incredibly sharp and accomplished people, who have left their ego’s at home
