Write your book in the French Alps

October 10-17th 2021

In the middle of the famous ski area of Les Arcs, lies the mini-mountain-village ‘Les Granges’. Nothing but nature, forest, silence, and beautiful views of the mountains. The ideal place to write your book in peace; whether your book is still in the early stages, you are already working on a manuscript, or it is almost finished.

We will be taken care of (read: spoiled!) by the Dutch chef Martijn van den Elzen and host Maartje, who have lived in the mountains for years and will show us the most beautiful places. In addition to the writing workshops and personal guidance you will get from me, there are also beautiful walks, a cooking workshop, a yoga class, and a massage to ensure optimal inspiration. A wonderful opportunity to get away from it all, to be completely cared for, to relax and tap into your inspiration.

The special ‘treat’ about this writing retreat in the Alps is that my publisher Jan-Willem Gerth will also be there. I sometimes call him my ‘publishing guru’ because he knows everything about self-publishing, e-books, printing, distribution, etc. You can ask him everything about publishing your book, what a publisher pays attention to, who to approach, etc.

“My book idea has become tangible because of
the peace and space I have experienced here.”

Andrea Dronk

“What an incredible week!
Words fall short of what became possible here.”

Ton Kooiman

“Great that these weeks exist,
in which you can fully recharge!”

Sophie Fischer

“Incredibly inspiring; good people, great ideas and tips.
Plus a wonderful place to work.”

Angelika Kuiper

Naturally, this week is all about writing and we follow a structured program to get the most out of our time together. Every morning I give a workshop on a theme that you can immediately put to use that day. Lunch is provided in the chalet or in the garden, so you can continue working undisturbed. If you need 1 on 1 guidance, it is always available.

At the end of the afternoon or evening, we take a walk or mini-excursion, combined with dinner. This provides the ideal combination of maximum writing time and still seeing the unique aspects of the Alps. The program and other general information that applies to all of my writing retreats can be found on the writing retreat page.

The first evening, during the welcome dinner, we’ll decide on the details of the program together. Below are some examples of excursions to get to know the Alps better:

  • A mountain or forest walk

  • A yoga class with a view over the mountains

  • A special ‘writers’ massage at the chalet

  • A wine tasting 🍷

  • Dinner at boutique restaurant Le Petit Hibou

  • A cooking workshop with fresh local products (you can also just eat, if you don’t feel like cooking…)

  • A magical night or evening walk through the forest

“The food is un-be-lie-va-bly delicious and the environment is inspiring.
I am ready to publish my life story!”

Carole Donkers

“I felt like a racing horse, having been stuck in the start gate for ages.
As soon as it opened, I went for it!”

Jacoline Steegstra

“This carefully chosen environment has its effect.
I am going home with new energy.”
