I was supposed to take it easy… But yeah, who am I kidding? December and January ‘kind of’\u00a0worked out, but last month, I even drove myself crazy. Eight different places in just a few weeks, constantly on the move. But hey, it’s my own choice – and honestly? I love it.<\/p>\n

Everyone\u2019s busy, probably you too. So how do you stay afloat in all the chaos? For me, three workouts a week with my online personal trainer are non-negotiable, and I make sure to hit 10,000 steps daily, usually with an inspiring podcast in my ears. In this inspiration shot, I\u2019m sharing my favorite ones with you, along with a few other experiences and insights.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Back in time<\/h2>\n<\/div>

In Antigua, Guatemala, I reunited with my friend Moncho (Ramon) after 30 years of no contact. Back in the \u201990s, when I was studying Latin American Studies and Anthropology in Florida, I spent a lot of time with him. His family is one of the wealthiest in Guatemala. I couldn\u2019t find Moncho on social media, but on a whim, I sent a message to his 30-year-old phone number just a few days before my trip and got a reply within a minute!<\/p>\n

I spent the weekend with him and his partner at their ‘pied-\u00e0-terre’ in Antigua, an impressive, stunning house that takes up an entire block in the old city center. Reminiscing, joking, debating all sorts of things; it felt just like old times.<\/p>\n

Moncho finds my way of life a bit odd and insisted on sending one of his security guards with me when I walked back to my Airbnb at night. And honestly? That turned out to be a good thing\u2026 but for a completely different reason than he expected. I even wrote an\u00a0embarrassing Facebook post<\/a>\u00a0about it!<\/p>\n<\/div>

Being busy is a choice<\/h2>\n<\/div>

Over the years, I\u2019ve had several ‘internships’ in the life of my artist\u00a0brother Michael<\/a>, who\u2019s 12 years younger than me. He now lives in New York, and I figured, since it\u2019s ‘kind of’ on the way from Miami to Amsterdam, I\u2019d stop by. The only catch? My schedule was already packed. In just two and a half days, I crammed in real estate visits, coaching, interviews, theater show prep, workouts, social meetups, and spontaneous adventures. It felt amazing until I wondered why I was so exhausted.<\/a><\/p>\n

Being busy isn\u2019t necessarily a problem, as long as you intentionally schedule downtime too. Something I still need to learn\u2026 and maybe you do too?<\/p>\n

Creativity is an energizer<\/h2>\n<\/div>

Despite (or maybe\u00a0because of)<\/em> my packed schedule, New York sparked some wonderfully weird moments. Like that time we pretended to be on a rollercoaster in the subway. Or the inspiring brainstorming sessions for\u00a0my theater show<\/a>, where\u00a0Michael came up with brilliant ideas<\/a>. Oh, and did I mention? He\u2019s actually going to be my scene partner for a few parts!<\/p>\n

Right before heading to the airport, I managed to squeeze in a quick visit to my favourite Ukrainian restaurant,\u00a0Veselka<\/a>. I was practically bursting with energy going there!\u00a0Michael even caught it on video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The takeaway: Being busy drains energy, but spontaneous, creative moments give it right back. Sometimes, the magic isn\u2019t in resting more, it\u2019s in finding energy sources within the chaos. I\u2019ve gathered a few great examples in the Inspiration Bites below!<\/p>\n<\/div>
