Adopt an olive tree<\/h1>\n

An ancient tree with your name on my Tiny Trullo land in Puglia, Italy…<\/h3>\n<\/div>

Whether it’s corporate sponsorship, a (birthday) gift to yourself or someone else, or a memorial for a lost loved one, the adoption of an olive tree gives you something that will remain, that is visible and that pays off every year (read: produces olive oil).<\/p>\n

This is such an amazing project. Last October 18th, my great love sadly passed away after 5.5 years of struggle against cancer. I adopted this tree as a reminder of him (my warrior, so powerful and positive) and as a monument to our love. I always wanted something special for him and when I saw this I immediately knew “this is it!”.<\/p>\n

This gives me so much energy, it’s incredible. I was hoping that something beautiful would come my way for Loet and it really came so quickly. It was meant to be, intensely grateful \ufe0f\"\u2764\"<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Italy is MY country. It has always been. In my childhood, we went on holiday to the beaches of the Adria, Tyrrhenian Sea, Elba and at 17 years old I got to know Firenze and Roma. When I am in Italy, I am approached in Italian because of my appearance. Love has cut my dream to live in Tuscany.<\/p>\n

I had everything I loved in my little paradise in South Africa , when my house, garden, photo albums, cookbooks and art collection were burned down overnight. The terrible inferno reduced 900 houses to ashes overnight.<\/p>\n

Since then I only have what I really need. But it must be sustainable. For my birthday I often get beautiful bouquets of flowers; after a week they end up on the compost.<\/p>\n

This time for my birthday, I have adopted a tree that will survive, and bear fruit too! I use the olive oil daily. I am happy with my adoption and the reuse of my beautiful 5-liter can of oil …<\/p>\n

My father, an artist, was born in 1911. He left a lot of art in the world. I want to honor him with tree number 11.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

We chose this tree because it lies so beautifully in the line of sight of the Tiny Trullo; but also, because it already had such an adult appearance, with two large branches (our children Eva and Charlotte) that symbolically emerge from and merge in the trunk (the origins), but also their (capricious?) way further into their own future they must find. I adopted this tree for my cousins of the Thoonen family.
\nI supervise a ‘team’ of fun, fantastic cousins; together we do wonderful things.
\nI am also a source of information from time to time. We have developed a very special bond, from childhood.
\nI have no children myself, the branch of the tree will soon stop when I am no longer there.
\nI want to leave something tangible.
